Henry Kucharzyk
musician and composer
Henry Kucharzyk’s career has brought him to the forefront of Canadian contemporary music as a composer, pianist and keyboard player, record producer, radio host, thereminist and conductor. His works reflect his interests in digital and analog music, spatialized sound, choreography, and unconventional instrumental forces.
His long association with modern dance has led him to create ‘choreographed’ music works, where movement and sound are inextricably linked. He has worked with leading choreographers such as Carol Anderson, Peggy Baker, Susan Cash, Paul-André Fortier, Christopher House, James Kudelka, Karen Jamieson Rimmer, Tedd Robinson, and Holly Small.
He has been called “one of Canadian music’s explorers” and the over 50 works in his catalogue reflect the variety of his musical interests and include both conventional concert forces as well as unique instrumental and electronic combinations.
