Margarita Soria was born in Ottawa where she first connected with dance in the Canterbury High School arts program. She trained at the National Circus School in Montreal before moving to Toronto in 2014 to attend the School of Toronto Dance Theatre. After graduation, she joined The Toronto Dance Theatre and became a full- time company member. She is queer with Native American - Bolivian and European ancestry, dancing through distance, holes, and misconnections to recover knowledge and listen. She recently traveled to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, as an artist-in-residence at the Heart of Riverdale and with the support of the Canada Arts Council, she completed a residency in Oaxaca, Mexico (Pocoapoco) where she continued her absorption of various forms of knowledge and danced.
