David Morrison (1960-2007)
lighting designer

Lighting Designer David Morrison lit over 200 dance premieres in theatres across Canada, Europe, the US and Asia. His work is in the repertoire of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Royal Ballet of Flanders (Belgium), Danny Grossman Dance Company, Dancemakers, Ballet BC, Alberta Ballet, and the Compania Nacional de Danza (Mexico). Based in Toronto, David designed for the Danny Grossman company's performances for ten years. He worked with outstanding and interesting contemporary dance artists including Kate Alton, Serge Bennathan, Marie-Josée Chartier, Peter Chin, Christopher House, Bill James, Yvonne Ng and Julia Sasso, as well as collaborating with leading ballet choreographers James Kudelka, John Neumeier, and Rudi van Dantzig. Mr. Morrison was the Resident Designer for Canada’s National Ballet School and freelanced, both at home and internationally.

For Peggy Baker Dance Projects: David designed the lighting for The Disappearance of Right and Left, a way to master silence, Heaven, and The Transparent Recital.
