Michael Menegon
composer and sound designer

Michael is a dancer, choreographer, and musician originally from Montreal. He has been accompanying dance classes in Toronto for 40 years as a drummer, and is the resident accompanist at The School of the Toronto Dance Theatre. Michael began developing alternative live music for dance performances between 1994 and 2006 with the Beat Suit Projects, an electric body instrument that enables a performer to dance and create the score simultaneously. In 2016 Michael founded SOM – Sound of Movement, a collective of dancers and musicians that perform structured improvisations using dancers as the score. Michael has recorded three albums, his most recent of which is titled ‘Carnival King’, and he is pursuing an authorship as a Continuum Teacher, a somatic investigation of the body and its environment.

For Peggy Baker Dance Projects: Michael created and performed the score for Unfold Attachments.
