The Perfect Word
The Perfect Word is a dance installation that sets ten dancers in motion, each performing a six-minute solo in succession, cycling for a duration of up to twelve hours. The performers dance while describing, in their mother tongues, the symbolic meaning of key words that relate to the natural world, our bodies, and the objects we make and use. Each audience member is invited to contribute their voice to an interactive soundscape and projection design by Debashis Sinha. The Perfect Word blends movement, voice, and projected image to create an evolving anthology of human language. The Perfect Word premiered for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche in October 2014, and was co-produced with Canada’s National Ballet School.
