land | body | breath
land / body / breath (2014) was an immersive installation performance for dancers and vocalists, designed for performance at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Situated in the extraordinary Thomson Collection of Canadian Art, the music and choreography of land / body / breath illuminated the elemental Canadian style epitomized by the art works. Captivating dance was performed surrounded by the landscapes of Tom Thomson, Emily Carr, and the Group of Seven, and the outdoor scenes of William Kurelek, James Wilson Morrice, and Cornelius Krieghoff. Live vocalists looped improvised sounds with folk songs, throat singing, and iconic Canadian pop, their voices reverberating among sculptures of stone, bone, shell, and wood. The audience, fluid and mobile, travelled through the galleries and craft their own highly personal experience of the performance.
