a true story
a true story (1998) recounts a story about the negotiations between a girl and her father’s new wife in a three-part cycle. The first time there is only movement in silence. The second time Peggy adds spoken text to the movement. In the final telling, the movement is on its own again in silence, but this time the story is echoed in the now familiar movement vocabulary for the audience.
A wonderful piece that explores non-verbal storytelling, a true story is a flexible, 12 minute work that can be programmed alongside The Disappearance of Right and Left or on mixed programs with other artists.
Previous performances: various across Ontario, including Ottawa Storytelling Festival 2012.
