Stephanie Ballard
choreographer

Stephanie Ballard is an acclaimed choreographer, dancer, personal coach and educator. She is a recipient of Canada’s most prestigious awards for choreography including the Clifford E. Lee Award, the Jean A. Chalmers Award and the Jacqueline Lemieux Prize. Her 50 year affiliation with Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers includes being a Soloist, Resident Choreographer, Director of the Apprentice Program, Associate Artistic Director and Artistic Advisor to the WCD Board of Directors. She is Artistic Director for Stephanie Ballard & Dancers, Artist in Residence for the SCD Professional Program and Artistic Advisor for Peter Quanz and Q Dance. Inspired by the early modern dance philosophies with regards to radical movement reform, and how in many ways, those ideas are still very much relevant today, Stephanie continues to explore and investigate the choreographic process. Never resting on her laurels, Stephanie is in a constant state of exploration and discovery. She is delighted to be a part of Peggy Baker’s archives.
